Photographs

I work from one main photograph with others for reference and context. When placing an order please give me a one key photo that, you feel, best represents the subject ensuring that it's in focus, the subject is large in the frame and the lighting is good. For group portraits I'm happy to work from several single photos but please remember I can only paint what I see! If you need help taking a good photo then please have a look at my photo tips page for some advice because, in my experience, the best photos make for the best portraits.

I do understand that sometimes obtaining new or additional photos is difficult so, if your set of photos is limited or they are not terribly clear, please let me have a look at them to advise you on the best option. You can email me your photos though please do not reduce the size or quality beforehand; alternatively you can mail them to me as either prints or on a CD and I will, of course, return all photos.

If you would like me to come to you to take my own set of photographs then please contact me as I am more than happy to do so.

Payments and Deposit

Once you have decided to go ahead I will require a 50% deposit to confirm the order. Once received I'll be able to advise you of an approximate finish date for your portrait.

Payment can be made either by personal cheque (U.K. only, payable to Mrs Sally Lancaster) or by Credit or Debit card via Paypal. Please email me with how you would like to pay and I will send you an invoice.

Finished Painting

It's important to me that you're completely satisfied with your portrait and so, before despatching the work, I'll send a scan of the piece to ensure that it is to your liking. Once you have confirmed this and the balance due on the painting has been received I'll send out the finished portrait. Paintings are usually despatched by Royal Mail Special Delivery to ensure arrival the next working day.

Framing

My paintings do not come framed as the frame is used to tie the finished work into its location and I feel that this decision is a personal one.

Delivery

Delivery is included in all prices. Within the U.K. delivery is made via Royal Mail Special Delivery requiring a signature upon delivery and guaranteeing next-day delivery. Worldwide delivery is made by Royal Mail International Signed-For.
